In this he covers:

  • How BDD improves communication between developers and stakeholders
  • Why examples are so important in BDD
  • How BDD builds upon Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Why business stakeholders need to care about refactoring

Results Driven Testing – or how a bank changed its testing approach

Results Driven Testing – or how a bank changed its testing approach, Jean-Paul Varwijk, Rabobank
From 2010 onwards a change has taken place within the software development at Rabobank International.   The development process changed from an essentially waterfall method to a method where the use of agile practices is central.  The software testers not only went along with these changes. They were often at the forefront of these changes.

In this talk I want to show:

  • How the testers at Rabobank International adapted to a new context.
  • How they gradually changed their testing approach by following courses on Rapid Software Testing  and agile testing.
  • How they have enhanced their skills and knowledge of testing by forming work groups and performing testing dojos and workshops.
  • How they while doing all this still are able to fulfil the growing regulatory demands of the financial world.

As a member of the lateral test management group I have been co-author of a completely rewritten testing policy.   A testing policy that is applicable in different business lines, encompasses all of the mentioned changes and could potentially form a reference for other companies to follow.

BIO:
Jean-Paul Varwijk is a Test Analyst at Rabobank International where he tests and manages testing of a variety of products such as Data Warehouses and Credit Risk Models. At Rabobank he participates in a number of lateral and multi-lateral workgroups on test policy, test improvement, tool strategy and he organizes intervision sessions on testing.   Next to his work at Rabobank he is owner of Arborosa. Where he coaches testers and gives training and advice on software testing.
Jean-Paul is a member the TestNet Agile workgroup and the TestNet training and coaching workgroup, he is a member of the Dutch Exploratory Workshop on Testing (DEWT), he regularly speaks and provides tutorials at conferences and is an active promoter to follow other testers’ blogs and tweets.

Shift-Left – Test Automation in Agile Environments

Shift-Left – Test Automation in Agile Environments
Unlock the Secrets – Wolfgang Platz, TRICENTIS

Abstract:

Savvy organizations today are benefitting from Agile Product Development with much tighter requirements to delivery; however, this means continuous software development and therefore, continuous software testing. Join Wolfgang Platz, CEO and Founder of TRICENTIS, as he discusses how customers in leading agile environments have solved the test automation problem and achieved significant results in increased efficiency and effectiveness.

Wolfgang will co-present a real life case study which demonstrates important information for all testers and Q.A. professionals looking to: excel with Agile, increase test coverage, and improve time-to-market.

“Shift-Left” for Test Automation raises some key questions including:

  • When should we start the test automation and how often?
  • What are the benefits and advantages of early automation?
  • How can you apply the same approach to testing across the different technologies such as GUI, Non-GUI, mobile/smart devices, and Cross Browser?
  • What are the 5 “must do’s” of testing in for agile environment?
  • How do you make test automation easy and early especially in a complex ERP environment such as SAP?

As part of the presentation, Wolfgang will conduct an interactive exercise and chalk talk on test case design to improve test coverage

Bio:

Wolfgang Platz, Founder and Managing Director, launched TRICENTIS® in 1997 as a consulting firm focused on software testing. Building on his experience as a Senior Consultant for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, he immersed himself in the traditional ERP testing scenarios and quickly saw the need for new concepts and methodology to ensure adequate test coverage. In response, he developed the groundbreaking Linear Q Testing Methodology and the TOSCA Testsuite, built on Business Dynamic Steering.

Today Wolfgang is an industry leader and frequent presenter on the subject of test efficiency and effectiveness. From the TRICENTIS head office in Vienna, Austria, he presides over a growing firm still focused on quality assurance, software testing, and test management for over 300 customers in 25 countries.  When he can get away from business, Wolfgang enjoys literature and music, and relishes the challenges of downhill skiing and hiking in the Austrian Alps.
